Ripple Fountain

The Ripple Fountain, designed for the Wisconsin Alumni Association’s Alumni Park, provides a sculptural water feature at the park’s primary entrance. The fountain’s stone structure is carved from a single piece of granite, and includes ripple-like rings radiating from the center of the stone. Working closely with the fabricators and fountain plumbing team, the fountain is designed to cast a smooth 360-degree veil of water over the stone’s outer edge. During windy days the fountain pumps slowdown so the water sticks to the face of the stone, therefore reducing any spray from blowing into adjacent features.

Role: Project work completed at SmithGroup. Eric’s role was lead designer from conceptual design through construction administration.

Fabricators: Stone Mock-up Fabrication by Quarra; Stone Final Fabrication by Coldspring; Fountain Plumbing by Fountain Technologies
